3. Programming help

Hi, for something I'm thinking off, I would love to have a machine that pumps a liquid into a connected waterproof pipe/liquiduct/.. when it receives an redstone signal.

and maybe make that you can pump the liquid first in the machine it's get stored in the internal buffer.

How would you do something like this?

You would do it like any other "machine" that contains something with the only difference that it also would implement the IFluidHandler and overrides its methods. It's quite a big question so if you can narrow it down what you need help with it will be easier.

Basically if I could make a machine to work like the Aqueous Accumulator ( Thermal Expansion ) I should be able to figure out the rest.

What part of that do you need help with then?
  • 2013-08-27 00:52:32
That is a little too complex to make, I say first pass at least the first three courses to make that.

Complex is not the issue, I just ask this on how you do this the "proper" way. instead of researching it, and having to spend hours on doing it probably in the wrong way.

and I mostly need help on letting a liquid flow into a pipe.

Simply let your tile entity implement IFluidHandler.

So, when we're here now and talk about Liquids, so how do you create one yourself? (so it's compatible with tanks and stuff)
So the Liquid Registry probably is a good start, but is there something else I should take care of?

(And when I'm here, what about the Ore Registry?)

Quick correction, post-1.6 they are called fluids, not liquids.
