Different types of packets

    So I was watching some ModJam streams and reading some code on github and I noticed that a lot of people sometimes use in their mods some of the different types of packets instead of only using the Packet250CustomPayload (the one that you showed in the courses). For example the Packet132TileEntityData to sync Tile Entities when they are created using the getDescriptionPacket() method or the packet131MapData (that is also used in the interface ITinyPacketHandler) to send small information (while they use the packet250 when they need to send a lot of stuff). What are the advantages of using different packets?
