working in groups

I have heard mixed feelings on this matter. Some people like it and use it with effect like the metallurgy and Atum team, but then other people like Vazkii suggest against it. Just looking for some opinions on the subject. No prejudice just a calm open topic :-)

Well it all depends on the size of the project, if your making a complex mod then by all means get a group together, so long as you can find things for everyone to do. But for anything else, it is always good to go solo as you have control over the product you are making.

sadly I have a huge mod idea in the works. I just don't want to spam it everywhere because I have no code work done on it. I have it posted to FTB and that is to try to get some ideas and see how people feel about the idea. I will have to think about it a little more I guess... haha

    Thanks TDM :)

I agree with what TDM said about group size depending on the size of the project. I'm new to coding and won't be ready to work with other people for a while yet, but I have a question for those who have worked with others on coding/modding before:

How do you usually communicate with the people you're working with? Email, forum posts, Skype/TeamSpeak?

Just want to know what most people do.

It seems like usually IRC, Skype, and TS are the most predominate.
