Forging a Minecraft mod

Basic Minecraft modding with Minecraft Forge

Which forge version?

    Hello Vswe!

Which version of Forge will you be using for these tutorials? It would be great if you could use the latest. That way, I could familiarize myself with the new structure. (and also get it installed beforehand and start experimenting :P)

By the way, I really like this idea. It gets lots of people introduced to Java and MC modding, from a solid source, whereas the scarce tutorials available on minecraft forum and the Forge wiki, if I could find one, were typically outdated. It's nice to have this up-to-date (and made by the author of Steve's Carts).

Would be epic if its Forge 8.9.x.x for Minecraft 1.6. Since resource packs is a huge change from 1.5.2. I really hope Vswe will have enough time for the lectures since I guess he will be working on updating SC2 also.

Thanks Vswe for all your effort and time you have spent on these courses!

First I wasn't too sure which version to go with. 1.6 arrived with the worst possible timing (no time to experience with it first). But I decided yesterday that I would go with 1.6 anyways, I'm going to convert SC2 to 1.6 (which I have to do eventually anyways) during the few days between the last course and this course. Hopefully I will be ready to teach all about it in a few days.

Of course, since it's all new to me I might do mistakes, but the coding part should be pretty much the same anyways.

Vswe, I know you had no experience with 1.6 already, but Forge has changed the way it registers the inits? Like from @Init to @EventHandler? Because all @Mod annotations are deprecated

How I am supposed to know? As you say, I have no experience with 1.6 whatsoever.
